UPDATE: Dec. 26, 2014 : According to a Gannet Press Article Governor Cuomo has asked the NYS Gaming Commission to re-open bidding and start a process to accept new applications for a “Southern Tier” Casino.
The Gaming Facility Location Board had the option to choose four locations for casinos in three areas of New York State but only chose threeand had advisded that they had no plans on choosing another site (issuing the additional license). The board and commission are reviewing the Governor’s request.
New York State Gaming Facility Location Board announced, on Dec 17th, 2014 that three locations in upstate New York were chosen and will be able to apply to the Commission for a gaming facility license:
- Montreign Resort Casino in the Town of Thompson (Sullivan County)
proposed by Montreign Operating Company LLC (“Montreign”)
- Rivers Casino & Resort at Mohawk Harbor in the City of Schenectady (Schenectady County) proposed by Capital Region Gaming, LLC (“Rivers”)
- Lago Resort & Casino in the Town of Tyre (Seneca County)
proposed by Lago Resort & Casino, LLC (“Lago”)
